Mans best friend

Animals continue to exist in a space of harmony far apart from that of humans. Acts such as a dog greeting you at the door with uncontrollable enthusiasm even on a rainy day, them cuddling next to us on the couch, or even their simplest desire to play should always be treasured. But all too often we arrive home tired, demotivated and unwilling to accommodate such pure behaviour.

People constantly carry the weight of their struggles with them while animals are completely oblivious to the concerns that torment the human mind of today. The rise of populism, the ever present threat of terrorism or a terrifying vision of a world ravaged by the forces of global warming are things uniquely troublesome to human thoughts.

But instead of ignoring such clear distinctions between the outlook of people and that of animals, their utter lack of concern about our views on Brexit, our possibly perilous future existence or the plight of Coronavirus have perhaps never been so welcome.

Of course one cannot deem the aforementioned concerns as meaningless but their meaninglessness for animals must be delved into by humans.

Through a cat’s soft purr or a lovebirds cheerful chirp they immediately return us to a purer and more tranquil state of disconnection. They help alleviate us from the burdens and anxieties of the modern age, which…
